HCL launches 7-inch tablets starting at Rs 5,999


HCL has rolled out three budget tablets with 7-inch screens and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The all-new HCL ME Tablet U2, V1 and Y3 come at a price tag of Rs 5,999, Rs 7,999 and Rs 11,999, respectively. While ME Tablet U2 has full access to Google Play marketplace, ME Tablet V1 and Y3 come with limited apps featured in HCL ME Store. 
ME Tablet U2 features a 7-inch touchscreen 800x480p display and is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor paired with 1GB RAM. The device comes with 4GB onboard storage and supports microSD cards with capacities ranging up to 32GB. Running on a 3,100mAh battery, the device has a VGA camera in the front and supports full HD videos (shot at 1080p). Connectivity features in the tablet include Wi-Fi, microUSB and 3G (via dongle). 

The new HCL ME Tablet V1 has the same screen as U2 and runs on a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 1GB RAM. This tablet also comes with 4GB built-in memory and can accommodate microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. HCL has included a 2MP camera on the rear of the device, while a VGA unit is placed in front. This device features voice calling and is compatible with sim-based 2G networks, while 3G speeds can be accessed via dongle. Other connectivity options in the device include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB, while its battery capacity is 3,200mAh. 

HCL ME Tablet Y3 has a 7-inch screen, though with better resolution of 1024x600p as compared to its other siblings. This is a dual-sim tablet and is powered by a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor with 1GB RAM. The device features 4GB built-in memory, while storage can be expanded externally up to 32GB via microSD card. The device sports a 3.2MP camera on the back, VGA camera in the front and is powered by a 3,100mAh battery. Connectivity suite of the tablets consists of 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB.
