Sometimes, we feel the need to delete an account on a site. It can be for many reasons... we don't like the site, we don't use the site anymore, or for any other reason. But, often it can be a pain finding out how to delete the account, because the site owners do not always make it easy to find the link for account deletion.
In this article, I am sharing two sites, which provide information and links for deleting accounts from various popular sites, like Facebook, Hotmail, Twitter, Google, etc, so that we do not have to hunt around for them anymore.
The first site is :
This site contains information from a huge number of sites. I like this site for a number of reasons. First, the desired site can be searched easily from a search box provided on the main page. Typing only a few letters of the desired site will bring up the site name, and if the site is not listed in its database, it simply won't allow you to type the complete site name.
The complete list of sites can also be seen as one big list from the link marked "All sites" on the main page.
Secondly, the site marks the sites in three categories, whitelisted, blacklisted, and greylisted sites. The whitelisted sites are the ones which allow you to delete your account from their site, without much trouble. The blacklisted sites are the ones which do not allow you to delete your account. Means, once you open an account there, you can't delete it. You are stuck. The good thing is that, now you can check on this site, before opening an account on a site, whether it will allow you to delete your account or not.
The greylisted sites are the ones, in which some amount of effort is required to delete the account, like sending requests in mails.
You can also suggest a site to them, to include in their list. Just remember to do so in English.
The second site is :
Although it does not have a list as huge as the first site, but still, it provides useful information about account deletion on popular sites. Sites can be searched from the search box provided, or, can also be searched from the links provided alphabetically, letter-wise. Or, the whole list can be simply seen by clicking on link marked "(all)".
Wherever possible, they also provide information on how to retrieve your account back, after deletion, in case you change your mind.
